Queensland data centre operator iseek has acquired Adelaide’s premier data centre platform, YourDC, expanding its footprint into the burgeoning South Australian market.

YourDC’s founder, internet industry veteran Scott Hicks, remains an investor and in his role as CEO, alongside his core management team and staff.

“The injection of growth capital will enable YourDC to build on our digital modernisation programs, and expand our capacity and capabilities,” Mr Hicks said.

“Our list of blue-chip government, defence, and enterprise customers will benefit from the full range of new services we can now offer, using iseek’s mature Infrastructure as a Service platform.”

The acquisition includes YourDC’s 6,000 sqm facility on a 25,000 sqm site at Edinburgh Parks in Northern Adelaide, and a second facility at Hawthorn on the CBD fringe.

iseek founder and CEO Jason Gomersall said he was attracted by the synergies between his own founder-operated eastern seaboard business and the YourDC business.

“Scott and his team have focused on building a trusted, world-class data centre business that plays a key role in supporting critical data infrastructure for enterprise and government customers,” Mr Gomersall said.

“Our businesses are market leaders in their respective states with proven track records of delivering secure and reliable critical infrastructure to large-scale government and enterprise customers. Importantly, YourDC’s customer-centric culture aligns with ours and we are retaining its high-performing team and valuable long-term customer relationships.”

The acquisition broadens iseek’s co-location, cloud, and connectivity offering to seven data centres across Brisbane, Northern Queensland, Sydney, and Adelaide.

“The acquisition of YourDC is a game-changer for our growth trajectory,” Mr Gomersall said.

“YourDC provides us with a large footprint in South Australia, strengthens our national offering, and increases our exposure within the defence and education sectors.”

UK-based international asset manager Amber Infrastructure bought a majority interest in iseek last year.

Scott Hicks said the acquisition will bring considerable economic benefits to South Australia.

“With a national outlook will come increased opportunities for direct and indirect employment, demand for highly skilled employees and effective workforce development,” Mr Hicks said.
